Identity

In the 1600s, Georgetown was the farthest point upstream that oceangoing boats could navigate the Potomac River … on the site of present-day Georgetown, a small village established trade there. It didn’t take long before Georgetown grew into a thriving port, facilitating trade and shipments — from Europe to the West Indies … it became an international hub of bustling activity.

We don’t often think of this Georgetown since the bridges and the Whitehorse Freeway have been constructed, which enables us as motorists to bypass Georgetown entirely.

This is the Georgetown you need to be. The international hub, the thriving port town, that brings the world together — but instead of facilitating trade and shipments — you are facilitating global leadership and big ideas — spreading knowledge and driving innovation.

Georgetown gathers knowledge from all over the world to create unique value for the community it serves.
