Syrian Refugee Relief Effort
For Saranoni, a family operated business that specializes in producing luxury blankets, corporate responsibility means more than selling a quality product. Blankets are not just square pieces of cloth that keep people warm on a cold day. A blanket brings comfort, a sense of security, and even a little love.
Company owners—Nathan and Emily Peterson—long wanted to see their vision of comfort expanded beyond the borders of their home state of Utah. The company has long been involved in its local community, and employees regularly search for ways to help their neighbors. From celebrating a newborn baby, or comforting a burn victim at a nearby hospital, the staff has gone the extra mile to help those in need.
In 2017, the Petersons approached Pythia International with a dream to extend their vision by thousands of miles. Through our strategic partnering platform, we helped connect them with key relief organizations to deliver thousands of blankets to refugee camps in Lebanon. Pythia provided a film crew, which traveled to the capital city of Beirut to capture footage of Syrian families telling their stories about how they escaped their war-torn homeland. Pythia produced a short film to boost awareness of the families who fled their homes with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
After seeing the heart-wrenching conditions of children in the camps, a number of organizations expressed a desire to help. All of us at Pythia were humbled as we witnessed the cumulative power of thousands of people banding together to provide a little comfort to strangers half-way across the globe. It gave us hope that when individuals join hands for a common good, they can truly change lives.
